Together we can!

English

Our teachers plan structures of work each year that are well-matched to the specific group of children they are teaching. They use well-chosen texts to provide rich language models and structures from which children can learn how writing works and the effect it can have on a reader.

They use the following curriculum structure along with the National Curriculum to plan a Long Term Plan for the Year. Staff also refer to the information in the CLPE “What We know works ” resources.

CLPE choosing and using quality children's text

Staff know that it is important to refer to phonics, grammar and spelling within the context of a text so children can see how this looks when it is being used in ‘real’ writing. Vocabulary is a key focus for us and children are encouraged to explore and engage with the effect of language used within the texts they read.

Children are supported through well-modelled writing from teachers to allow them to have the opportunity to write independently for a range of purposes and in a variety of genres.

The lessons are designed to inspire writers and engage with a variety of different texts.
